About Towle Silversmiths:
In 1682 William Moulton II left
the family farm in Hampton, New Hampshire and settled near the
Merrimac River in a section of Newbury, Massachusetts that would
later become Newburyport. In 1690, William became the first to
attempt silversmithing in Newbury, thus gaining the title of the
first silversmith in the area and beginning a long lineage of
silver craftsmen. Six consecutive generations of Moulton silversmiths
have followed under the Towle Silversmiths name. Today, Towle
Silversmiths is owned by Lifetime Brands.
