What is .925 Sterling Silver?
The Short Answer:
Sterling silver consists of at least 92.5 percent silver and 7.5% percent of other metals like copper, nickel, or both. The reason for this is Pure Silver or Fine Silver, is very soft and very malleable making it easy to damage or bend. Other metal alloys like copper or nickel are added to the silver to make a more durable piece.
All items sold by Silver Superstore as “Sterling Silver” contain at least 92.5% percent Silver and are stamped with either “.925”, “Sterling Silver”, or both.

The Buttercup Iced Beverage Spoon by Gorham measures 7.63". First made in 1899, Buttercup by Gorham has stood the test of time with its intricately carved floral motifs. With a beautiful floral pattern arranged along the handles and necks of each piece, Buttercup finds a balance with a slender central panel edged with delicate borders. Reminiscent of Venetian lace, Buttercup by Gorham evokes a certain romance. Gorham applies a tarnish at the factory to highlight the many flowers on the handles, so please use a standard silver polish so that this applied tarnish will continue to make your flowers stand out.
