Herdmar Rocco Gold Matte Stainless Flatware
One of the newest innovations in flatware design is the new gold matte finish, which covers the entire piece in a gold finish, even the blade of the knife. It is striking to see in person, and offers a new way to bring gold to your table without the glare of traditional gold plated patterns. The Rocco Gold Matte pattern is manufactured in Portugal and made in a heavy weight 18/10 quality stainless steel with gold plating. Another feature of this pattern is that it is made in the larger Continental size (the soup spoons especially are quite oversized). Herdmar, the manufacturer, says this pattern is dishwasher safe, but we recommend that you take extra care with this one. If you choose to run this pattern through your dishwasher, be sure to use a regular amount of detergent (not too much), and the air dry cycle if possible.
This pattern is also available in a regular stainless steel finish as well as a unique black finish.

What is .925 Sterling Silver?
The Short Answer:
Sterling silver consists of at least 92.5 percent silver and 7.5% percent of other metals like copper, nickel, or both. The reason for this is Pure Silver or Fine Silver, is very soft and very malleable making it easy to damage or bend. Other metal alloys like copper or nickel are added to the silver to make a more durable piece.
