What is .925 Sterling Silver?
The Short Answer:
Sterling silver consists of at least 92.5 percent silver and 7.5% percent of other metals like copper, nickel, or both. The reason for this is Pure Silver or Fine Silver, is very soft and very malleable making it easy to damage or bend. Other metal alloys like copper or nickel are added to the silver to make a more durable piece.
All items sold by Silver Superstore as “Sterling Silver” contain at least 92.5% percent Silver and are stamped with either “.925”, “Sterling Silver”, or both.

What does " w/stamp " mean?
As of April 2022, Fortessa is no longer stamping their logo in their flatware pieces. We do have some stock left of the stamped versions. If you are looking to match your older, stamped, pieces you will want to select the pieces denoted with “w/stamp”.

This flatware is beautiful. Several reviews mention the knife rusting. It does note in the written material that comes with the flatware that dishwasher detergent that contains lemon may cause rust. I don't use lemon in my detergent and have had no issues whatsoever.
Friend has Portola in one of his homes, and I needed an every day set. Bought it via Lenox, on a Friday sale day and the price was excellent for the flatware. Transitional style to me; I am neither modern or traditional so it works great.
I'm very pleased with the Portola set I purchased. I have been using it for about 20 days and have seen no signs of rusting or spotting. It comes out of the dishwasher looking great. Look over the forks when you get them. I found two forks with tines that were not straight but other than that, I have no complaints.
I purchased a set of Portola flatware but lost a salad fork. I wrote to Lenox and inquired about purchasing just one or two forks. Today I received a salad fork in the mail! I had no idea they were going to send it. Excellent customer service! I use the set everyday and it goes into the dishwasher. Over a year of using it and it still looks like new. Great quality, and weight, at a great price. It can also be used for special occasions. It is that nice.
The knives are NOT 18/10 stainless - they began to rust after a few months of extremely light use. Handwashed like the rest of the set. They are only stamped as "stainless." The rest of the set has been fine and does specify "18/10 stainless" on the back.
